The short version: This website doesn’t ask who you are. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics or ads, and stores nothing on your device. If you email us, we use your address only to reply, or to send the updates you asked for. Life Legacies, the game, is being built the same way: no accounts, no ads and no tracking, with your saves on your own device.
Who we are
Life Legacies is made by SeriousPixel, LLC, doing business as SeriousPlay Games (“we”, “us” or “our”). This policy explains what information is involved when you visit www.lifelegaciesgame.com (the “Site”) and, once it is released, when you play the Life Legacies game (the “Game”).
Information we collect on the Site
We don’t ask you for any personal information. The Site has no sign-up, no login and no forms. The “Keep me posted”, “Press inquiries” and “Contact” buttons open your own email app with a message addressed to us; nothing is sent unless you send that email yourself.
Cookies, analytics and storage
The Site sets no cookies, runs no analytics, shows no ads and uses no tracking pixels, advertising identifiers or anything else that follows you across websites. It doesn’t store anything on your device.
The live sky, the timeline and the globe are computed entirely in your browser from the current time. They don’t use or send your location.
Fonts from Google
The Site loads its typefaces from Google Fonts, a service of Google LLC. When your browser downloads them, Google receives the technical details that come with any web request, such as your IP address and browser type. Google handles that information under its own Privacy Policy.
Server logs
The Site is hosted on DigitalOcean. When your browser requests a page, the hosting service automatically receives the technical details that come with any web request, such as your IP address, browser type, the page requested, the referring page and the date and time. These logs are used to deliver the Site, keep it secure and fix problems, and are kept only for a limited time. We don’t use them to identify you, build a profile of you or advertise to you.
If you email us
If you write to us, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to write. We use it only to reply to you and, if you asked us to keep you posted, to send you occasional news about Life Legacies. Ask us to stop at any time and we will, and we’ll delete your address. We delete correspondence when it’s no longer needed.
The Game
Life Legacies is in development. It is being designed to protect your privacy in the same way:
- No accounts, ads or tracking. The Game is planned with no sign-up, no advertising and no analytics or telemetry.
- Your saves stay on your device. Saved games, family trees, memories, the family archive and any family history file you import (for example a GEDCOM file) are stored on your device. Imported files are read on your device, living people are removed from them, and nothing is uploaded to us.
- Characters you talk to run on your device. Where the Game uses an AI language model for conversations, the model runs on your own device and your conversations are not sent to us. Models are downloaded from their publishers’ servers, which receive the technical details of that download request.
- Stores and backups. When you buy the Game from a store (such as Apple’s App Store, Google Play, Steam, the Microsoft Store or itch.io), that store handles your purchase and payment under its own privacy policy. If you back up or sync saves with iCloud or Android backup, that is handled by Apple or Google under your account with them.
Before the Game is released, we will update this policy with the exact details of how it handles information.
Sharing and selling
We don’t sell or rent personal information, and we don’t share it for advertising. We would disclose information only if the law required it.
Children and classrooms
The Site and the Game are designed for families and classrooms. The Site has no accounts and collects nothing from visitors, so children can browse it without sharing anything about themselves. If you’re under 13, please ask a parent, guardian or teacher before emailing us. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age where they live); if you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we’ll delete it. The Game’s Classroom mode is planned to work without student accounts or student data.
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, laws such as the GDPR, the UK GDPR and U.S. state privacy laws (including California’s) may give you the right to access, correct, delete or move your personal information, or to object to how it’s used. Because the Site collects nothing about you, the only personal information we may hold is email you sent us. You can ask us to access or delete it at any time, and we won’t treat you differently for asking.
Security
The Site is served over HTTPS. Email you send us is handled by our email provider and protected in the ordinary way.
Links to other websites
The Site links to other sites, including www.seriousplaygames.com, Google Fonts, and the sources we credit for maps, history and the sky. Those sites have their own privacy practices, and this policy doesn’t cover them.
Changes to this policy
If we change how the Site or the Game handles information, we’ll update this policy before the change takes effect and revise the date at the top. We’ll never apply a less protective policy to information we collected under an earlier version without asking you.
